Designer: Daniel Rybakken

Niche

When designing Niche, Rybakken drew on the architectural origins of the word itself. A niche as something carved into the fabric of a building, a space within a space, translated into an object with faceted walls and an angled roof that give it the quality of an alcove. Objects placed inside feel quietly elevated. When a candle is lit, the faceted walls scatter and contain the light at once, illuminating the interior without spilling onto the surrounding wall.

Constructed in powder-coated steel and available in two sizes, Niche can be wall-hung or free-standing.
