Daniel Rybakken
Norwegian designer Daniel Rybakken is based in Gothenburg, Sweden where he founded Studio Daniel Rybakken in 2008 after studying design at the Oslo School of Architecture and the School of Arts & Crafts in Gothenburg. He has since become one of Scandinavia’s most highly awarded designers, particularly known for his explorations of light and shadow.
He is the first Scandinavian designer to receive Italy’s prestigious Compasso d’Oro design award (2014), and was honoured with a second Compasso d’Oro in 2016. In 2015, he was named by Wallpaper* magazine as one of the “top 20 designers in the world under the age of 40”, and in 2017 he received the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize.
