I belong - the exhibition

For as long as humans have existed, our survival depended on belonging to the group. Our brain shaped itself to recognise belonging as safety.

Every evening, our ancestors did things together that produced the feeling of safety the body needs to rest, digest, and heal. Our world looks very different today, but our brain is essentially the same. We still need a strong sense of belonging to thrive.

I belong looks at the simplest tools for that wellbeing: the things humans have shared by the fire for over 400,000 years, and the science of how each still calms the nervous system today.
